Manual or motorized
Manual or Motorized?
Choose simple, cost-efficient manual operation or add motorized convenience where reach and everyday ease matter most.

Choose the control style that fits each window, your budget, and how you use the room. You can combine manual and motorized shades throughout the same home.
Choose manual for simplicity and value
Manual shades are the most cost-efficient choice and work well for windows you can comfortably reach. They provide dependable everyday operation without charging, remotes, apps, or smart-home equipment.
Best for
Easy-to-reach windows, rooms where shades are adjusted occasionally, smaller projects, and areas where keeping the total price lower matters most.
Choose motorized for reach, convenience, and control
Motorized shades are especially helpful for high, wide, or hard-to-reach windows. They are also useful when you want smooth operation from a handheld remote, phone, or compatible smart-home setup.
Best for
Tall windows, shades behind furniture, frequently adjusted rooms, multiple shades you want to move together, and anyone who values easier daily operation.
You do not need motors on every window
Many customers motorize only the windows where it adds meaningful convenience and use manual shades everywhere else. This keeps the project practical while controlling cost.
Battery motor
Rechargeable lithium-ion battery motor
The rechargeable battery is built into the shade, so there is no everyday power cord hanging at the window. In typical residential use, it generally needs charging about once per year. The battery is designed for up to 50 recharge cycles; actual charging frequency varies with shade size, use, and installation conditions.
Simple occasional charging
Connect the compatible charger when the battery is low. Extension and magnetic charging accessories can make high or difficult windows easier to reach. Follow the correct setup instructions for the motor and charging accessory included with your order.

App control
Two phone and smart-home control options
Both options add app-based control, but they use different hubs and setup processes. Choose the system that best fits the shades and connected-home equipment you plan to use.
