Click a question to expand the answer. The battery programming answers below apply to the Somfy battery motors described in the Insolroll PDF. Match your motor to the guide before programming.
These steps apply to the Somfy battery motors covered by the Insolroll Battery Motor Programming Instructions. Insolroll says the shades ship with limits already programmed. Use the following procedure to adjust existing limits; initial setup after a factory reset uses a different procedure.
Upper limit: Press UP and let the shade stop at its current upper limit. Hold UP and DOWN together until the shade jogs once. Use UP or DOWN to position the shade at the new upper limit. Hold MY/STOP until the shade jogs once to save.
Lower limit: Press DOWN and let the shade stop at its current lower limit. Hold UP and DOWN together until the shade jogs once. Use UP or DOWN to position the shade at the new lower limit. Hold MY/STOP until the shade jogs once to save.
A jog is a brief up-and-down movement. Check operation after each adjustment. See upper-limit instructions on page 5 and lower-limit instructions on page 6. If the shade only moves while you hold a button, or you cannot reach the existing limit, contact us before using these adjustment steps.
For the embedded Li-ion motor covered by the guide, briefly press the motor-head PROGRAM button to wake the shade. It should jog twice. On a multi-channel remote, select the channel you want first. Briefly press PROGRAM on the remote; the shade should jog once to confirm pairing.
This is the first-pairing procedure for a new shade in the shipped state. Adding another remote to an already paired shade uses a different procedure. Read the wake-up and pairing instructions on page 4.
Check that the remote is on the correct channel and its battery is working. Check the shade battery charge and look for an obstruction. A motor in Deactivate or Temporary Sleep mode will not respond normally; the guide explains how to wake it. If thermal protection has activated, allow the motor to cool.
Use the motor LED pattern to choose the matching troubleshooting step rather than resetting the shade. See the troubleshooting chart on page 14 and Deactivate and Sleep modes on page 9.
For the rechargeable motor or battery pack covered by the Insolroll guide, use the supplied charging cable. The guide gives a typical full charge time of 3–4 hours and says not to leave the charger connected continuously. Battery life varies with shade size and use.
Follow the instructions for your specific motor and battery type. See charging information on page 3.
For an already programmed motor covered by the guide: move the shade away from both end limits and stop it with MY/STOP. Hold UP and DOWN together until it jogs once. Then hold MY/STOP until it jogs once to save the direction change. Press UP to check the result.
Initial setup after a factory reset uses different steps. See Modifying Motor Rotation on page 5.
Yes, the guide explains how to add remotes and channels. Select the intended channel before pairing. For an already paired shade, hold PROGRAM on the existing paired remote/channel (or use the motor head as described in the guide) until the shade jogs once. Briefly press PROGRAM on the new remote/channel; a single jog confirms it was added.
When working with multiple shades, use the guide’s Deactivate/Sleep procedure to keep other shades from joining the pairing process. See Adding Channels on page 7 and Deactivate/Sleep modes on page 9.
For the programmed Somfy battery motor covered by the guide, use UP and DOWN to move the shade to the desired position, then briefly press MY/STOP to stop it. Hold MY/STOP until the shade jogs once to store that position. While the shade is stationary, a brief MY press recalls the saved favorite.
This favorite position is separate from the upper and lower travel limits. See Favorite (MY) Position on page 6.
The Insolroll Battery Motor Programming PDF on this page explicitly covers Insolroll roller shades powered by Somfy battery motors. Match the guide to your motor before following programming steps.
The separate Somfy Oximo instructions (Oximo systems only) cover a different motor family, including procedures involving rigid links and physical stops. They are not a universal remote setup guide for interior battery shades. If you are unsure which motor you have, contact us with your order number and a photo of the motor or remote label.
