About this shade
Blackout fabric blocks light through the fabric itself and provides no outdoor view through the covered area.
Light, view and privacy
Light can still enter around the edges of a roller shade unless you choose to purchase the side and bottom channels in the shopping cart. The channels are best if installed on an interior mount. If your shades are a face mount, then a 3M two sided tape can be used to fasten to the wall.
Understanding the fabric
Blackout shades have not openness to achieve total blackout.

Where it works well
Bedrooms, media rooms and spaces where blocking light through the fabric is the priority.
Reducing edge light gaps
Every roller shade has small edge gaps because the fabric must clear the brackets and window frame. For blackout shades, you can add a pair of 2½-inch aluminum side channels to reduce light along both sides. An optional sill channel further reduces light at the bottom. Light-gap channels require exposed hardware or 4-inch Standard Fascia. They are not compatible with 3-inch fascia, 3- or 4-inch cassettes, 3-inch SELECT fascia, or QSR hardware. Channels improve room darkening but do not guarantee a completely light-free room.
